COMPLETION:  finished; ended; concluded

40 days have come and gone, and the lessons learned have been truly inspiring.

Financially we were able to give over $1,000:

  • $125 was given to each of our sponsor children
  • $250 purchased animals for families in Haiti
  • $525 helped a village in Africa get clean water

Each day was a lesson learned:

Next year I look forward to following the daily devotions in A Place at the Table and get another perspective on solidarity with the poor.

SHARE:

  1. to divide and distribute in shares; apportion
  2. to use, participate in, enjoy, receive, etc., jointly

It is such a blessing to be able to share with others.  Locally we can share our abundance of food with the food bank, and our excess clothing with the Salvation Army.  Nationally we can share our prayers.  Globally we can share through the world-wide web, with our sponsor children, and contribute to projects such as Water Can and Samaritan’s Purse for Operation Christmas Child.

A Place at the Table – Day 38

SUPPORT:

  1. to bear or hold up (a load, mass, structure, part, etc.); serve as a foundation for
  2. to sustain or withstand (weight, pressure, strain, etc.) without giving way; serve as a prop for
  3. to undergo or endure, especially with patience or submission; tolerate.
  4. to sustain (a person, the mind, spirits, courage, etc.) under trial or affliction
  5. to maintain (a person, family, establishment, institution, etc.) by supplying with things necessary to existence; provide for

When you take the time to look around you there is so much in this world that supports us.  See what supports you in the moment when life seems overwhelming:

  • the ground under your feet
  • the chair you sit on
  • the lights that guide your way
  • the vehicle that gets you from point A to point B
  • your teeth, so you can chew your food
  • your job that help you provide for your family

These are just a few things that came to mind as I was walking today!  What supports you?
